FOCUS
Black women across the U.S. are disproportionately impacted by adverse maternal health outcomes, regardless of their education level or socioeconomic status. Taleah believes that all birthing persons and their infants deserve the right to lead healthy lives during pregnancy and thereafter. She aims to build a program of research that explores the biopsychosocial mechanisms that contribute to stress-related cardiometabolic risk in Black women during the perinatal period. With her research, she seeks to develop policy-level interventions that address the sociocultural needs of Black mothers and their families. Taleah aspires to create a Culture of Health through community-based approaches that reduce maternal health disparities by holistically promoting the health and wellbeing of reproductive age Black women.
