Sara Perez

FOCUS
Using an interdisciplinary approach encompassing economics, social justice, and public health, Sara’s research aims to contribute to evidence-based, equitable policy to hold industries and employers accountable for offering stable work arrangements, livable wages, and benefits to the workforce. Unbridled industrial and employer power, disproportionately held over employees, becomes exploitative, particularly for workers with the least bargaining power, such as women and people of color. By investigating structural factors like poor enforcement of labor protection standards, de-unionization, and precarious work arrangements, Sara’s work strives to reshape labor policy to redistribute power equitably among employers and employees, dismantle problematic systems, and construct new ones with health equity at their core.
