Rehaana is passionate about identifying the historically systemic issues that contribute to the inequalities of communities of color. Her research explores economic disparities, wealth gaps, and financial wellness, focusing on systemic and structural problems that impact the well-being of women of color. Rehaana is committed to engaging in research that prioritizes black and brown women’s financial wellness and the disparities that impede their social determinants of health. Rehaana envisions that her research will foster collaboration to improve the well-being of others and create equitable communities.

Wealth, Race, and Gender: Exploring Intersecting Factors in the Financial Well-being of Black Women

This study explores the intersectional dimensions of financial well-being among Black women, examining how race, gender, and socioeconomic status shape their financial experiences. Through a qualitative inquiry grounded in Black feminist theory and Sherraden’s financial capability perspective, the research seeks to understand how Black women define financial well-being and navigate structural barriers. By centering their voices, this study aims to contribute to the literature on financial well-being and inform policies and programs that address financial disparities. The knowledge gained will provide critical insights into the resilience of Black women and the challenges they face in achieving economic stability.
