FOCUS
Nathan’s research interests involve developing evidence-based models of transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) health that integrate histories of feminist and LGBTQ movements, racial and social justice, and reproductive justice. The primary aims of his research are to create TGNB empowering environments that increase access to care, prioritizing those who experience multiple forms of oppression. Nathan’s research will build upon understandings of racialized, historical, ancestral, and structural trauma to provide a framework toward building healing, affirming, and trustworthy care. By elucidating the intersection between trauma-informed care and gender-affirming care, Nathan’s research aims to inform initiatives that improve health outcomes. Guided by the lived experience of those most directly affected by health disparities in the TGNB community and combined with nursing-driven interventions, he plans to apply the learnings toward building equitable local policy and education programs.
