FOCUS
Lianeris is committed to advocating for health as a fundamental human right, with the conviction that no human being is illegal. As an epidemiologist and lawyer, she aims to develop interventions that foster safer and more nurturing environments for the integration of immigrants, especially Latinos. Her work seeks to transform the narrative of marginalized immigrants in the U.S. and advocate for systemic change to promote health equity. Lianeris is interested in examining law as a structural determinant that shapes people’s opportunities to thrive. She aspires to delve deeper into the complexities of legal status as a social determinant of health and how it interacts with other determinants, creating multilayered barriers. By identifying these disparities, Lianeris aims to create evidence-based interventions that improve Latino immigrants’ health, transform policies to promote social justice, and incorporate a holistic perspective beyond traditional legal analysis.
