Jessica Drescher

FOCUS
Jessica is interested in changing the opportunity structure surrounding children living in poverty in service of equalizing those opportunities and eliminating the correlation between socioeconomic status and life outcomes. Her research uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the intertwining influences of child health and academic achievement in the life course. Ultimately, Jessica hopes that her research will inform the development of cross-sector policies and practices that address the root causes of disparities in both academic and health outcomes.

MORE ABOUT JESSICA
Shaped by her experiences as an unaccompanied homeless youth and first-generation college student, Jessica is passionate about ensuring that all children get the opportunity to meet their fullest potential. She believes that doing so as a researcher will require taking a multi-sector approach, and she is thrilled that HPRS is giving her the opportunity to engage more deeply in health policy.
