Woodjerry Louis

FOCUS
Woodjerry is interested in examining how oppression, marginalization, structural racism, and intersectionality identities shape the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in black adolescents. The suicide death rate has increased in black adolescent youth faster than in any other racial/ethnic group. He seeks to address this issue by using community science research to turn data and social science knowledge into action. The overall goal is to develop and implement school-level approaches to suicide prevention through capacity building, equitable systems changes, policy change, and effective psychosocial interventions.
