FOCUS
Justin is primarily interested in how communities could interact with their social, political, and ecological environments to eliminate health inequities. He has interest in community-engaged research methods and the role researchers play in community partnerships for evidence-based policy change. He intends to identify mechanisms by which communities can build capacity to shape the rules, regulations, and policies impacting their health; and aims to ground this research in sociopolitical and ecological theories of health. Key to his work is the belief that communities and researchers alike are best served from a partnership-oriented research approach, centering the community in the theory and methodology of the scientific endeavor.

MORE ABOUT JUSTIN
Justin grew up in Maryland with access to many resources and is cognizant of the structural denial of those resources to people of color across the United States. He is committed to pursuing more equitable prospects for health and wellness for those communities, and believes that HPRS will offer the opportunity to translate his research into real, sustainable change.
