NIH Honors Scholar
A second-year PhD student in kinesiology at Columbia University, Andrea Duran has spent years examining obesity in underrepresented communities. Now, as a Health Policy Research Scholar, Andrea hopes to transform this research into effective behavioral programming that can affect the root causes of obesity on every sociological level. Recently, Andrea was selected to receive a Diversity Supplement from the National Institutes of Health to support her research. She will be working with Keith Diaz, PhD, on a project titled “Home and Neighborhood Environmental Determinants of Objectively Measured Sedentary Behavior Among Acute Coronary Syndrome Survivors.”
