Meet the Scholars: Gayle Shipp

As a food science and nutrition PhD student at Michigan State University, Gayle Shipp is examining the impacts of food deserts, social supports, and other factors on child and maternal health care. Through the Health Policy Research Scholars program, she is using an interdisciplinary research lens to better understand how breastfeeding disparities in the African-American community can be addressed. Gayle will apply the findings of her research in her own community to transform policy and practice.
